  • LAYERS OF HISTORY: Last week the words 'Shop-Rite' could be seen on the building at the corner of North and East Center streets in Anderson. Paint was being stripped from the facade to prepare it to house a Salvation Army thrift store. The J.F. Bedford Co. had the building built in the early 1900s and then a series of owners sold various wares from that location. The Shop-Rite operated in the building between the 1940s and 1970s and most recently, as the sign indicates, Shasta Design Center.
  • TOP THREE FINISHER: Last year Chris Williams finished in the top three in the Section Championships.
  • THE FOSTERS: Jeff and Amy Foster when they were married.

  • Anderson Moose Lodge clowns Margo “Pogo” and Paul “Wheels” Grano make balloon animals for children at the Anderson library’s story time. The Granos have performed as clowns for 14 years.
  • The American Legion Post 746 in Cottonwood presented a check for $3,045.00 to the Special Olympics Golf Team of Shasta County on July 21. The proceeds come from the annual golf tournament at Allen’s Golf Course, an annual event sponsored by the American Legion.   • FOOD FOR PAESANOS: Liz Lamarre, Anna Fine and Bobbe Vincent serve Italian sausage with onions and peppers at Paesano Days last weekend at the Anderson River Park. The event was sponsored by the Sons of Italy Shasta Lodge #2453.
  • GET RHYTHM: Meteor Music Etc. opened at 2927 E. Center St. in Anderson last month. The store specializies in vinyl records ranging from the 1940s to the 1970s including blues, rock and 'old country.' Owner Ron Sullivan’s shop has vintage records, clothing and collectibles.</p>
  • FACT FINDER: Anderson Library Branch Manager Martee Boban was recognized by Library System Services, LLC for her involvement in setting up the Redding Library while maintaining the Anderson branch.
  • Jaben Powers, 15 months, looks at his cousin Nathan Evans, 3, as they both enjoy their hot dogs at the Anderson branch North Valley Bank customer appreciation day last Friday.
