  • Nikki Sarti took first place in the Shasta County Idol contest for 9- to 15-year-olds. A total of 29 contestants competed in two age categories during the five-day Shasta District Fair, held June 17-21, in Anderson. Finishing second in the 9-15 age category was Ivoree Howell while Korri Bradley took third place. Lynsee De Rosa was also among the four finalists in this age category.
  • Aaron Romero took first place in the 16-25 age category during the Shasta County Idol competition held during the 2009 edition of the Shasta District Fair in Anderson. Four finalists competed for the top spot. Romero narrowly beat out Michael Vasquez, last year's Shasta County Idol. Vasquez took second while Emily Ball took third place. Sarah Layfield was the fourth finalist to make it through several rounds of difficult competition during the fair's five-day run.

Entertainment - from top Country artists including Mark Chesnutt and Carlene Carter - to local youths captured the attention of crowds attending the 2009 edition of Shasta District Fair in Anderson. The 1970s and '80s Rock-N-Roll band Pablo Cruise performed Thursday while Country ruled the grandstand stage on Friday. Shasta County Idol contestants did their thing several nights during the fair with the finals taking place Sunday, June 21. Daredevil motorcyclists and lots, lots more offered thrills, chills and plenty of laughs for folks who just want to have fun at the fair.
