Grand Champion Market Hog – Raised and sold by Chase Bunn of Millville 4-H. Hog weighed 281 pounds and the bidder was Al Schufelberger for Redding Roofing Supply at $21 per pound.
Despite the economic recession and high unemployment, area youth and supportive buyers came together Saturday, June 20, for the Junior Livestock Show and Sale at the Shasta District Fair in Anderson.
The Grand Champion Market Swine, raised and sold by Chase Bunn of Millville 4-H, weighed 281 pounds and fetched $21 per pound from buyer Redding Roofing Supply.
The Grand Champion Market Lamb, raised and sold by Samatha Lloyd of Black Butte 4-H, weighed 149 pounds and brought a top bid of $22 per pound from Redding Roofing Supply.
The Grand Champion Market Steer, raised and sold by Owen Macfarlane of West Valley FFA, weighed 1,282 pounds and brought a price of $4 per pound from successful bidder Shasta Livestock.
The Grand Champion Meat Goat, raised and sold by Corissa Clyde of Anderson FFA, weighed 87 pounds and drew $11 per pound from the McConnell Foundation.
And the Grand Champion Rabbit Meat Pen offered by Nic Purvis of Black Butte 4-H brought $1,200 from the McConnell Foundation.
Brody Gill of Millville 4-H had the Grand Champion Replacement Heifer that brought a top bid of $3,400 from Redding Roofing Supply while Go Away Ranch spent $4,000 on the Reserve Grand Champion Replacement Heifer offered by Ben Urricelqui of Palo Cedro 4-H.
