  • Like moths to a candle flame, carnival lights attract the young and young-at-heart to the midway at the 2010 edition of the Shasta District Fair in Anderson.

Smiling children, food, animals, bright lights, carnival games and the thrills of HiRiseFMX aerialists doing flips and jumps 35 feet above the pavement and 75 feet from ramp to ramp provided Shasta District Fair patrons plenty of things to do throughout the day Thursday, June 17.
The evening concert by The Fabulous Thunderbirds, while lightly attended with an estimated 350 patrons scattered throughout the main grandstand or down on the racetrack pavement, was a wonderful show with plenty of authentic Blues, Rock and more. Band leader and co-founder Kim Wilson sure plays a mean harmonica and soloed for nearly 20 minutes on the band's second-to-the-last number in their set. The crowd's standing ovation brought them back for one extended encore number as well.
