See larger Wilma Kite-Magladry, Palo Cedro: 'I am the out going president of the Shasta Historical Society. There is more foot traffic visiting the Igo School House this year. We are selling cookbooks and some publications. The weather has been great and it was nice for the State Secretary of Agriculture to visit with the people, which is something you don't see very often.'

  • Nancy Speck, Anderson: 'I like the animals, seeing the young people showing them and getting the recognition for all of their hard work that they do. I also like the small carnival area for younger children with family events. I showed at the fairs when I was younger.'
  • Debbie DuLong, Happy Valley: 'The Shasta District Fair has a bit of everything to offer. The entertainment is great. The vendors and concessions feel like one big family each year. The people that come in are great. It is a good county fair.'
  • Dave Kagle, Happy Valley: 'The fair has its Strong points. Raising livestock gives the kids a good education and helps build up respect towards animals. It also teaches them to raise a good healthy food product. I would like to see more people bring in breeding stock to show. The State Secretary of Agriculture was here this morning to talk with the kids.'
  • Betty Stephenson, Bella Vista: 'I like the agriculture exhibits and the other exhibits. It seems this year, that there aren't as many rides and it puts a safe difference in between the barns and the commercial areas.'
  • Charlie Burns, Happy Valley: 'It doesn't meet my expectations. The smaller fairs have better livestock judges, so we should too. This year, there are more activities for the kids that have to stay in the barns. That is important.'

What are you looking for in a county or district fair? Does the Shasta District Fair meet your expectations or are you disappointed by it?
