Don Jones Memorial Barbecue

DON JONES MEMORIAL -- Cowboy hats were the predominant headgear for those attending the memorial service Thursday, April 14, 2011, for Don Jones, 51, of Cottonwood. Ranchers and businessmen, women and children found seats at long tables or stood along the walls of Shasta Hall at the Shasta District Fair grounds in Anderson. Pastor Dan Woolery officiated during the memorial service. A barbecue lunch was served immediately following. Jones was the foreman for Holiday Ranch, owned by Rich Morgan of Cottonwood. Jones helped start Four Star Rodeo and was much beloved by ranchers and rodeo participants throughout much of northern California.

  • DON JONES MEMORIAL -- It was standing room only at the Shasta District Fair grounds Thursday, April 14, 2011, during the memorial service for Don Jones, 51, of cottonwood. Several friends and family members eulogized him with memories and stories that highlighted his life. Jones' former partner in Four Star Rodeo reminisced about their experiences. Jim Seale, uncle of the deceased, spoke thoughtfully about the former Holiday Ranch foreman who died April 8, 2011, doing what he loved best, being a cowboy during a Holiday Ranch round-up.
