Uncertainty regarding the City of Redding’s lease of its convention center to a private operator caused show officials to reconsider the location earlier this year, Lathrop said.

Eighteen agriculture and ROP students, with the help of agriculture teacher George Wold, built 20 “cubbies” for the live traps SPI uses to catch the fisher.
Senior Christina Coucelos, 17, thought the whole experience was a unique opportunity, including creating the cubbies.
“The first cubby took a while to make, but once we figured out the dimensions we had an assembly line going,” Coucelos said, who was in the agriculture mechanics class at the time.

A Morman by faith, her church’s only source of faith-based books, The Book End, was going out of business.
“The next closest Latter-Day Saints bookstore was in Sacramento,” said Runolfson who was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. Still, she resisted. It took prayer, faith and a gentle nudge from her daughter before she agreed to take the plunge.

On Feb. 10 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Anderson’s own Valley 11 Cinema will feature “The Phantom Menace,” the first movie in the Star Wars saga to be digitally re-mastered in 3-D
“We have storm troopers coming and a couple of other characters,” said Song Phothisane, the theatre’s manager.
The original Star Wars movie opened in 1977 and quickly became a cultural phenomena, ultimately resulting in the formation of Lucas Films Ltd. and a franchise worth billions. According to Forbes Magazine in 2010, Lucas’s films has netted the movie mogul $4.5 billion in ticket sales and $20 billion in merchandise.

The deadline is March 1 to submit names for the Distinguished Service Award, Business of the Year Award, Grace Bell Memorial Award and Customer Service Award, announced Debe Hopkins, executive director of the Anderson Chamber.
“The purpose of these awards is to recognize the outstanding individuals and businesses within our community,” Hopkins said.
Each award has specific criteria that all nominees should meet. For example, the Distinguished Service Award should include persons who have distinguished themselves in the community by seeking the betterment of its citizens, she noted.

</title><link>http://www.andersonvalleypost.com/news/2012/feb/07/regelin-family-receives-patriot-guard-riders/?partner=RSS</link><description>At least two dozen Patriot Guard Riders of Northern California, led by Ride Captain Jeff Nelson, gathered shortly before noon Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Veterans Memorial garden in Anderson River Park.
Two by two, with American flags unfurled and fluttering behind their throbbing motorcycles, they rode in formation out of the park and to a nearby subdivision.
They were on a solemn mission to visit and present four video DVDs to Scott and Shirene Regelin of Anderson, the surviving parents of Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Chad Robert Regelin, 24, who was killed in southern Afghanistan early last month.
