  • Senior Spencer Larsen gives Anderson coach Don Williams a bouquets of flowers to honor his time at the high school and as their coach. Williams will be leaving Anderson High in the spring to move to Simpson University and coach the inaugural wrestling team this fall.
  • Giving it his all – West Valley’s Austin Lobsinger has set a goal of being the top wrestler in the state in the 220-weight class. Once the season is over, Lobsinger will pick the college he wants to attend and wrestle for. He wants to be a criminal justice major, so he can one day work for the California Highway Partol.
  • Ready, Aim, Fire – Anderson New Tech freshman Jordan Hartzell, 14, takes aim at the target during a practice shoot for students at the Shasta District Fairgrounds. Hartzell placed the arrow in the bow in the photo above, before taking aim. According to New Tech P.E. teacher Becky Pope, Hartaell showed a natural aptitude for archery.
  • PUTTING ON THE BRAKES — West Valley’s Taylor Moebes races past Anderson’s Roxanne Navarette on Thursday in the Eagles’ 7-0 blanking of the Cubs at the Anderson River Park. The Eagles are 4-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Northern Athletic League, while the Cubs are 3-4-1 and 1-2 in the NAL.

  • Ready to Roll – Levi Hewitt of Anderson took an early advantage in his match against an Oroville grappler. Hewitt would go on to win the match with a pin in the first period.

  • Splash - Anderson High School's Allsion Lafayette loves the individual nature of swimming. She also loves the support of her coach for the Cubs.
  • Jump Shot – West Valley’s Hunter Dyche nabbed the rebound from Oroville and tried to nail a three point shot as time expired in the second quarter. The Eagles led the Tigers 21-11 at the break and cruised to a 47-40 victory.
  • Bringing It In – Eagle Josh Vert catches the ball on the outside and looks for an inside lane during Friday night’s game against Oroville.
  • Enjoying the Run - Anderson New Tech's Kyle Jarrell loved competing for the Ants and traveling with the team to races.
  • Double Team - West Valley's Aubrey Mendonca is guarded by Anderson's Katie Nunnelley (11) and Bindu Sidhu (5) during Friday's match-up of the Eagles and Cubs at the Harlan Carter Invitational Basketball Tournament. The Eagles held on for a 42-34 win over their South County rivals. Anderson finished seventh, while West Valley fell to Eureka in the consolation final.
