  • SCHOLAR–ATHLETES: West Valley’s Alyssa Christensen and Jake Fuller hold the plaques they received last Thursday at the Scholar-Athlete awards banquet put on by the Exchange Club of Redding and the Record Searchlight. Along with the plaques Christensen received $200 as a runner-up and Fuller took the top men’s honors with a $750 scholarship.

  • DISCUS THROW' Jake Fuller throws the discus to take first place honors in the event. His best throw this year was 186 feet 3 inches.
  • McOMBER TAKES FOUR: West Valley’s Josh McOmber took four events last Friday setting a new WVHS record in the 110 hurdles with an 14.18.
  • BACK TO FIRST: West Valley’s Brittni Ralph, on an attempted steal, makes it back to first base as Lassen’s Shaylee Unterreiner gets the throw from the catcher at last Thursday’s game. Ralph made the return to first. She has 24 RBIs with three doubles, six triples and three home runs for a batting average of .412.
  • SENDING IN A STRIKE: West Valley’s Cassidy Olson pitches a strike against a Lassen Player last Thursday for a 5-1 win. This year Olson has faced 188 batters in 64 innings pitched allowing for one home run and 88 strikeouts. The sophomore has 11 wins to no losses on the mound.

  • FAST PITCH - Codi Kaiser winds up and sends the ball across the plate at the Central Valley – Anderson game April 24. Kaiser threw a complete game, striking out five, to pick up the win for Anderson.
  • OUT AT FIRST - First baseman Shayley Pierce throws the ball to Kaitlyn Platt who came in from right field to make the play. Tasha Tompkins, middle, and pitcher Codi Kaiser, came into the play to get the Central Valley Falcon out at first.

  • SMOKING GLOVE - Anderson’s Chelsea Meyer’s glove appears to smoke from a pitch thrown last Tuesday against West Valley. West Valley won the game 12-2.
  • SPINNING FEET - Jake Fuller sent the discus 172-feet 6-inches and Andy Miller had a 146-7. Miller took the shot put with a 43-10 to Fuller’s 43-07 in the West Valley - Yreka track meet.
