Written on Fire District receives $39,543 tab for Piccinini investigation:

No, I say bill them all for that $41,000+...and then fire them all.

Written on Fire District receives $39,543 tab for Piccinini investigation:

I wonder how many Anderson residents would enjoy being able to spend $41,553? At just under $3500 per month for a year, most families could make it fairly easily on that!! I bet any of us would have spent that money much more wisely. This Fire Board should be embarrassed and ashamed to have cost the district so much money when jobs are at a premium.
If they are not, then they should be. Pretty expensive temper tantrum on their part, folks. I hope the investigation by the local investigators group gets hotter and hotter for the "unholy trinity plus two." They should be taken to task for wantonly spending so much money on a witch hunt. First DeCarlo, and now Piccinini, would not bow to this board (specifically Comnick). So, off with their heads!!
Meanwhile, Anderson residents watch and wonder what, or IF they are thinking at all. It's called politics, folks....and not the kind we want here. They need to be recalled quickly.

Written on Fire District receives $39,543 tab for Piccinini investigation:

goodday2all writes "i don't know what i was thinking hear this may also help."
Learn to type and spell. Sentences always begin with capital letters. 'Hear' in the context you tried to use it should be spelled 'here.'
Gee, and you think you are better off without an educated Chief of the Fire District. Speaking of poopy heads.....

Written on Fire Chief Piccinini resigns :

Let me see: Anderson Chamber of Commerce Events-let's name a few.

1. Anderson Explodes presented by the Anderson Chamber of Commerce, July 3rd at the Shasta District Fairgrounds.
2. Toys From the Heart sponsored every Christmas by the Anderson Chamber of Commerce.
3. Anderson Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the City of Anderson presents the annual State of the City Luncheon.
4. Anderson Chamber of Commerce and the EDC (Shasta Economic Development Corporations Business Retention Expansion services through one of our Shasta BIZ Enterprise Zone Seminars)a free luncheon and several seminars which were 'very helpful' to local businesses (their words, not mine), held in the Community Center at City Hall recently.
5. Coming Sept. 12th, Anderson's first Downtown Street Fair,(E. Center Street) presented by Anderson Chamber of Commerce.
Just to name a few things! If you were involved, instead of sitting on the sidelines complaining, you would understand.

Oh yes, there are some Redding businesses in the Anderson Chamber just as there are some Anderson businesses in the Redding Chamber. After all, word of mouth is by far the best advertisement.

I would hazard a guess that you once owned a business which did not do well and somehow you are blaming the Anderson Chamber for it. Interesting how one's perspective changes when one is full of bitterness and strife. Move on, get a life and try to enjoy it.

Written on Fire Chief Piccinini resigns :

HeardEnough writes: "If you are concerned about Anderson, join the Chamber Of Commerce and get them back on board to do what they were designed to do. Promote Anderson business."
Last time I checked, the Anderson Chamber of Commerce had more than tripled their membership. There is no need to "get them back on board." IF you ever attended a Greeter Meeting, you would see that business people(80-100 consistantly each week) are always there networking. As a business owner, the Chamber has been great to and for me. Evidently this is just one more example of you not knowing what you are talking about. Your posts are coming across as hate-filled. I can only wonder what is the driving force behind YOUR campaign against citizens who dared to stand up and speak for what they felt was right.
May I remind you, this is America. We all have the privilege of freedom. If I hated everyone whose thoughts and ideas were opposite of mine, I would be a sad, lonely person. Sounds to me like that describes you; sad, lonely with something gnawing at your insides all the time. Must be an awful way to try to live. As for me, I have friends on both sides of this and many other of life's issues. We agree to disagree and still enjoy our lives as friends. Perhaps you should stop and look inside yourself to see what motivates you. It may surprise you to see that the real issue is your lack of satisfaction with your life.

Written on Details absent as fire board tells attorney to take action:

Hmmnnnn...to quote you, SouthCounty1,"So, much of this disgusting stuff about the former fire chief WILL come out. In addition, the actions of others in the community also will be revealed."

Unless you are part of the fire board, how do you know there is "disgusting stuff" about the Chief, and why do you say he is the "former fire chief"? Must be a leaky mouth or mouths somewhere in our community! Interesting how "closed sessions" do not stay closed.

You and your friends should take your medication regularly. We will all be better off.

You sound like a blow-hard trying to bluff people. Scare tactics-I am shaking in my boots, just so you know.

Written on Critics quickly confuse news and commentary:

It is amazing how much we feel the "truth" should be written as our own perception of it. Anything disagreeing with us is automatically a lie? I don't think so. We may have different perceptions, but we still have freedom of speech.

The Concerned Citizens Group has brought up several legal issues having to do with this whole mess. They have NOT been proven wrong. I do not know what rock you are living under, HeardEnough, but welcome into the light of the real world. We all have a right to express our thoughts, opinions and ideas.

If writing under a user name is so wrong, why aren't YOU using your real name, HeardEnough? Enjoy those 2009 brochures.

I admire newspaper journalists for digging into sources and bringing what is really happening out for all of us to know. Where there is smoke, there is usually fire.

Nuff said!!

Written on Fire board quiet about Chief Piccinini's future:

Your points are on the mark, uptownblonde. What one of us has never had a day or days at work when we wish to be anywhere but there? We are all human and at some point we are unhappy with our job and/or life in general. It doesn't last forever. We "get a grip," try to work things out and keep going.

Two things stand out here: one is this all began when Comnick could not persuade the Chief to "allow a little leeway for her friend who wanted to build a building without the safety of fire sprinklers." That was his "first mistake." It grew from there.

Next, the board, without any investigation on their own, brought in Purcell, all the way from Montana, at an expensive rate, using money which could have paid firefighters for the hard work they perform for all of us. Just how many could have been added to the payroll for the cost of this biased investigation? Think about it.

Written on Fire board quiet about Chief Piccinini's future:

Someone just told me that Bellinger in his lengthy diatribe(wonder who wrote it for him) whined about the newspaper telling 'half truths' and 'one side of the story.' He forgot to mention that wonderful cartoon in yesterday's paper. It is priceless.

(Oh, is that a tomato truck I see backing up to the unholy trinity's houses?)

What happened to the firefighter's opportunity to run a paid ad telling their side with Comnick's campaign money?
Oops, I forgot, that is against the law and could be considered bribery. Guess they decided against it.

Gosh that pile of ______ being continually swept under the rug is already taller than lil' ol' lady Comnick.

I predict lawsuits against this fire board, both as a board and as individuals, the attorney and the city also. Conflict of interest? Ya' think?
This will cost both the city and the fire district thousands of dollars. Dollars that come from taxpayers. Think about it-Purcell at $65 an hour? That is only the beginning.

I feel for those firefighters who, despite Bellinger's rants, truly are being told they must bow to the demands of Fincher & Nichols or lose their jobs. Hang in there, guys. Justice is coming and it won't be pretty, but it will be just.

Written on Anderson Fire board to resume hearing investigation on Thursday:

"Oh, Lord, it's hard to be humble, when you're perfect in every way..." This song brought to you by "Norma and the Stupids."

Aren't we just so blessed to have such a perfect fire board with their perfect attorney and such a perfect acting fire chief? Oh yes, and some perfect Mamas going to bat for their perfect sons. How lucky we are to live in perfect Anderson. Sounds like Utopia. Except the real truth is stranger than fiction.

The unholy trinity continues to think that they are impervious(look that one up, HeardEnough)to any accountability at all.
Well, I have news for them. Enjoy your little playhouses while you can because the walls are about to fall down on your heads. Course, that might be a way to actually knock some sense into your heads---nnaaahhhh, you guys are too dense for anything to penetrate those thick skulls.

It is so amazing that this little unholy trinity group perceives those of us who are standing up for Chief as their latest enemies. They no longer speak or even acknowledge us when we meet in town, at meetings, etc. Isn't that strange? Because we differ in our opinions, we are now the enemy. Because we do not agree with them 100%, we are no longer worthy of even a glance in our direction. That is the way they play the game. Sounds like Russia to me. Of course, they are rather like the Gestapo.

So, once they are out of office, should we return the favor? Should we ostracize them? Hold them up to ridicule? No, we cannot do that, because they are already doing it to themselves. Anderson residents have watched this whole mess and taken note of exactly who is involved. Voters will soon show just how much power we have and how little power the unholy trinity has-which is much less than they think since they are legends in their own minds. (at least they would be if they had a mind)

By the way, Comnick, Schaeffer & Webster. Your village called, their idiots are missing. Go back where you belong, which is NOT in the Anderson political arena.

Written on Anderson Fire board to resume hearing investigation on Thursday:

Seems to me there is only one avenue left to this Fire Board. That would be to withdraw this illegal investigation and its' flawed, illegal report, and put our Chief back to work. If they do not, they are only lining themselves up for tons of civil lawsuits. This has been yet another Comnick hatchet job from the beginning.

It has nothing to do with whether people like her or not. It has everything to do with illegal political practices and illegal politicians. The unholy trinity has painted themselves into a corner, and we will see their messy footprints everywhere as they leave. No longer will they be able to drive people who cross them the wrong way out of town. Their reign is so over.

If they are smart, and up to this point that has not been one of their strong suits, they will back away from this whole mess, apologize and put Chief back to work.

You have read it all before: bribes (dessert & campaign monies), illegal investigation, conflict of interest, unfair labor practices, Brown Act violations, and that is only the beginning of a long list of illegal activities.

Wise up, fire board, back off and leave Comnick to face herself and her illegal motives for once. She needs to remember that recalls happen for a good reason. She has given more than enough reasons to be recalled. Her sidekicks have as well.

Voters are watching and waiting for your decision, board members. Are you ready to listen to citizens for fair and honest political practices? If not, your political career days are numbered.

Written on Letter alleges foul play by Anderson fire board:

Veryangrymom-if you go public, I doubt the bully, Fincher, could make it too hard on your son. There are several firefighters inside that I know would stand up with him. Remember only 14 out of 40 stood up at the Fire Board Meeting last week. Also, should your son report any little thing said or done to him, Concerned Citizens would raise such an outcry that they would hear it in the next state. If we have to, we can walk the sidewalk in front of that fire hall.

How dare Fincher try to coerce these wonderful volunteers? Just think, this man wants to be fire chief? I don't think so!!! Just because Comnick promised it to him does not mean he has it in the bag.

I wish the news media would expose this whole mess. Comnick and her minions have gotten away with far too much for far too long. I would love to see the letter from Ms. Hopkins on every TV station and newspaper in our county. How dare Comnick try to bribe our fire fighters with dessert and her campaign money (from local voters, no less)? That is only the latest in a long string of illegal activities sponsored by Comnick.

If Schaeffer and Webster are smart, they will back away from this mess very slowly and carefully. Webster himself is being investigated by the state for, among other reasons, not reporting $15,000 he received from a company he was part of that dealt with Bob Johnson of Bibb's Ribs-you know,---"worth the wait"-those must be darn good ribs since we have now been waiting for how long? How dare Webster be so hard on Chief? Isn't that like the pot calling the kettle black? Webster has been a proponent of Anderson most of his life. What a shame to see him losing that title over this awful mess. He had best remember what he himself is facing when he decides how to vote in this matter initiated by Comnick.

Schaeffer and Webster, back away from Comnick, not slowly, but at a high speed pace. That is the smart thing to do, and quite frankly, could be your only salvation. Comnick is going down, and it appears at this point, that you two are going down with her and her personal friend Purcell.

Until this community is rid of Comnick's own brand of venom, we will never be truly free. Recall, recall, recall. Grand Jury Investigation, Grand Jury Investigation, Grand Jury Investigation. Lawsuit waiting to happen, lawsuit waiting to happen, etc. Need I say more?

Heardenough-yes, it is personal in that Concerned Citizens are tired of Comnick's personal attacks on people who do not do what she wants. Ask yourself why she has few friends, why you NEVER see her with any of her immediate family, including children and grandchildren. How sad that she has so many personal vendettas-enough to last her for the rest of her life.

Written on Letter alleges foul play by Anderson fire board:

I went back to check, Treachery_Runs_Deep, and was shocked to see a couple of posts removed. As I remember nothing off topic, defamatory, obscene, abusive, threatening or an invasion of privacy,(as stated above),I think you must be right. The unholy trinity, which I had hoped might become the unholy solo,(thought by now Webster and Schaeffer might have taken their 'smartenin' pills) must be at it again.

Comnick's web of deceit must be pretty hard to untangle when it has surrounded them for so long. Surely they own scissors and can cut the strings. If they have any hope of retaining their local political careers, they will do an about face on this whole matter.

Here we go into yet another challenging week for the Chief and his family. Imagine putting such nice people through such a mess for such a long time. Again I implore Schaeffer & Webster to stand up on your own for once, discipline the Chief if you must, and then get him back to work. Fire season is upon us. Do not let yourselves continue to be led around by the nose. Think on your own for once. Change your image. Get out of Comnick's shadow. Stop doing her bidding.

It will be interesting to see if Finchers announcement to the firefighters was his own hopes and you had not already leaked Comnick's premeditated decision to him.

This whole thing is so full of bad decisions, Brown Act violations and violations of the law, it is pathetic.

You should do the right thing while you have a chance and put our Chief back to work.

Written on Letter alleges foul play by Anderson fire board:

Thanks for your comments, VeryAngryMom. You have every right to be angry about your son being coerced. This just proves how much we need to get the word out to the Anderson community as soon as possible. There are still many people who do not realize what is happening here. Spread the word!! The people involved are looking at recalls, charges being filed and more. They should back off to try to save their necks.

Written on Letter alleges foul play by Anderson fire board:

Concerned Citizens should certainly ask for a copy of Comnick's campaign expenditures. Who knows if she has spent voter's hard earned money lawfully? Certainly offering it to the fire fighters to run an ad against their Chief was a dumb move on her part. Perhaps she is too senile to remain in office. Recall is coming!!

She should be ashamed that she has behaved so reprehensibly towards the Chief simply because he refused to bend the fire code rules for her friend Tom Brown.

Anderson citizens are tired of the "good ol' boy-dirty politics system". The unholy trinity should be VERY careful in handling the rest of this "investigation!" Perhaps they should resign to save face before the recall goes into action! What a shame that they have this awful blemish on their records-all because they cater to Comnick's every wish and command.

Put our Chief back to work so we all feel safer in our homes.

Written on Grassroots group makes enquiries into Anderson fire district:

It means the unholy trinity knew what kind of report they could get from their good friend, Purcell. It would be the kind of report Comnick wanted.

Written on Board hears investigation of Anderson fire chief, delays ruling:

It is sickening how Comnick works "undercover" to get her agenda passed at any cost. Has she done it for so long that she thinks she is above getting caught? When one lies long enough, it becomes the norm for them. The person she has promised the fire chief job to is caught in her web and he cannot even see it. How many men does she keep in her web at a time? Last count I saw Schaeffer, Webster, wannabe fire chief, a few other fire fighters and oh yes, Brown. Remember, everything caught in the web is eventually eaten by the spider when she is ready. You will be the last to know when your time has come. Watch out, wannabe fire chief. Remember this-don't ever cross her or you will be gone so fast your head will spin.

Written on Should the Shasta County Grand Jury be asked to look into the affairs and management practices of the Anderson Fire Protection District including the board of directors and public allegations of their misuse of power?:

I see Grand Jury Investigation and Recall in the future of the "unholy trinity". Wonder how much they will enjoy that? Can they lie to a Grand Jury and get by with it? That would be the second in a series of investigations for Webster. Wow, wonder how Norma let him get ahead of her in something?

Written on Board hears investigation of Anderson fire chief, delays ruling:

How hard is it to understand the pattern that is happening yet again, with this"unholy trinity"? These three have appointed and re-appointed themselves for years as mayor & onto boards that they desire. What part of 'conflict of interest' do they not understand? Someone brought up a good point-Norma whispers into the ear of someone who wants Chief's job, and from there it snowballs. (All because Chief refused to bend the law for one of her personal friends)What kind of heart, if any, must such a person have to do such evil work? What kind of heart must that person who wants Chief's job have? I hope he can sleep at night. If I had to achieve "success" by breaking the back of someone else,at some point,it would come back to bite me. I say to both this fellow and the "unholy trinity"-it is already coming back to bite you. Concerned Citizens are so done with your shenanigans. We are watching and taking note. Your days are numbered in the political arena in this town. In fact, they may be shorter than we think. If Mr. Schaeffer's bizarre behavior at that Fire Board meeting and Mr. Webster's so carefully crafted statement are anything to go by, these people are running scared & angry. Did anyone read the comics yesterday? There they are in "Bizarro"-Pinocchio the Politcian is saying, " So instead of telling the truth, I just bought a saw and some sandpaper." Yep, that sure fits the unholy trinity. Keep sawing off your own growing noses and sanding them smooth, but we can still tell your noses are growing faster than you can saw or sand. Resign and let people who truly care about our community step up to the plate. Thank God for Hunt & Yarbrough who are honest and truly care about our community.

Written on Board hears investigation of Anderson fire chief, delays ruling:

I must have misunderstood. I thought the newspaper said Webster had been paid by that company to the tune of $15,000 which he "forgot" to report on some form elected officials have to file often for anything received whether it is income or a free ticket to some event. Go back and read that item in the Record Searchlight. By the way, Webster is paid, albeit very little cash,(a stipend plus complete health coverage) to sit on the city council, so he is an employee in a sense. He is employed by hard working Anderson citizens, who may find it hard to vote him back in next year. Why are you dismissing Stan Morgan so quickly, HeardEnough? He was on the council long enough to see how things were done and he was sick of it. He stated that he had been asked to be on the Fire Board and he declined because he felt it was a conflict of interest. That seems like a stand up guy to me. People are paying attention to the fact that the trio spoken of earlier are losing their cool and finding it hard to concentrate. As was said earlier, how can they make an unbiased decision in this case? There is no way that is possible now, especially since the Schaffer soap opera we heard about last evening. They should all resign and let unbiased, independent investigation be done to determine a fair and just end to this mess they have gotten our community into. You said shame on concerned citizens. I think you are missing the whole point. I say shame on these three people who have played god far to long.

Written on Board hears investigation of Anderson fire chief, delays ruling:

One more thing-if HeardEnough wants to let the board do its' job, I would remind her of that angry outburst by Schaffer last night. How can he possibly make an unbiased decision when he is so clearly over the top angry and out of control? Had that been me accosted by him, I would have headed straight to the police chief who was there and asked to file charges.

Written on Board hears investigation of Anderson fire chief, delays ruling:

To HeardEnough-as I hear it, the same "anonymous letter" (per puppeteer Comnick instructions) was behind those charges for the former fire chief. She got rid of him the same way she is trying to get rid of Chief P., and in the same time period (18 months). All she has to do is say a few words to her minions and away they go to do her bidding. Do you not understand that "letting the fire board do its' job" is just once again letting them get rid of a good man? They have a conflict of interest-perhaps you should look that up at Wikipedia and see what it means. These three people are no longer fit to make wise decisions or govern anything. You just don't get it, do you?

Written on Should the Shasta County Grand Jury be asked to look into the affairs and management practices of the Anderson Fire Protection District including the board of directors and public allegations of their misuse of power?:

Because he knows they are all guilty of far too many things they do not want on the front page of the newspaper. He sees their political careers as OVER! So do we!!

Written on Board hears investigation of Anderson fire chief, delays ruling:

Huey, Lewey & Dewey, aka Grumpy, Dopey & Sleezy, I mean Sneezy, (you decide what name fits which of the "ubholy trinity"), are through. They cannot run for Fire Board as that would be a conflict of interest. Why will it be a conflict of interest in November and not right now in June? Do these "good ol' boy Bubba types" really think we, as citizens in Anderson, do not understand how that works? GIVE IT UP!! Your reign of controlled puppeteering is over, Comnick. Schaefer and Webster, you chose to align yourself with the queen b and now you are paying for it. You all have dirty hands from your dirty politics, so resign from the fire board and go take a bath. Anderson will be better for it. I hear that Webster's statement last night said they welcome a grand jury investigation. I hope so because it is coming...remember that Webster is already being investigated by the state for thousands of dollars he "forgot" to report. In these economic times, none of us would "forget" that much money. What a crock!! Those three are melting so fast,(wicked witch, remember?) soon we will see them no more--and the air will be cleaner, Anderson government will be purer, citizens will be treated more fairly and we'll all live happily ever after, with a well run,(by Chief P) in shape fire department protecting us from fire evils!

Written on Board hears investigation of Anderson fire chief, delays ruling:

McNeal needs a grammar lesson..."broke down the morale...he can't even speak properly. Perhaps the Chief should have tried to institute basic grammar school classes for some of these firefighters..that would really have ticked them off. After all, why should they try to better themselves? All they have to do is fight fires, right?

Written on Watchdog group forming:

Right you are, McGruff!! It will be easy to get enough signatures to recall Comnick. I think only a recall will actually get through to her. The people are sick and tired of the shenanigans of the supposed queen mother and her minions(Webster & Schaeffer). I heard that at tonight's meeting, Webster read a long litany of reasons why the fire board is not to blame for this whole mess....if that is the case he is now trying to present, he is way too late. We know that it takes a brainless person to actually believe that an anonymous letter should start such an investigation. I would bet my life savings (if I still had any) on the fact that Comnick is behind that "anonymous" letter. As usual, she finds others to do her dirty work. Would an anonymous letter hold up in court? Of course not!!! If the board is blameless, then why didn't they first investigate these charges themselves? I understand that Chief Piccinini has received wonderful periodic reviews up until a short time ago. Isn't it strange that all of a sudden he is blasted with a laundry list of charges? This time Comnick has overstepped her master puppeteering bounds. The strings are being cut by concerned citizens and her puppets cannot control their behavior without her---evidenced,I hear, by one puppet's unorthodox behavior at the meeting tonight. I was told that he was angry, red faced and beligerently ranting to those gathered there to speak, before anyone was allowed to say anything. Did he think he could intimidate those gathered to speak? Interesting... methinks he and Webster both doth protest too much. Voters remember this!! As to the firefighters who are currently standing against the Chief---most of you guys need to get in shape...thus the reason why Chief wanted you to work out...for your own safety and those of us you should protect. You should be willing to constantly better yourselves so you can be more productive at your jobs. The rest of us who work do try to be better at what we do, whether it is taking classes, staying fit, whatever. I would remind you as someone said earlier.....you can be replaced...or some of you with "dunlap's disease" (my stomach done lapped over my belt-Andy)could die of a heart attack while fighting a fire. In fact, with the cost of this fiasco of an investigation, you might well find yourselves out of a job soon. I am sure the district's coffers will be heavily depleted by this investigation....last minute plane tickets,(for another Comnick puppet), Gaia Hotel, food, car, office, secretaries to type it all...and the list goes on....ad nauseum. Citizens beware....we may have to fight our own fires if this stuff continues.

Written on Retired APD Chief Neil Purcell hired to investigate Anderson's Fire Chief:

Concerned Citizens, please go to andersonvalleypost.com and vote as to whether or not there should be a Grand Jury investigation. I voted a resounding YES!!! (the sooner the better)It would be amazing to all of us to see just what would be uncovered...things certain long term city council members have concealed from the public...anonymous letters written by councilpersons is only the beginning...their misdeeds and coverups would fill a book...

Written on Watchdog group forming:

What is that old saying...it's a good thing elephants don't fly? Well, monkeys will be just as bad. I would hate to be a fire board member when they fly over. Beware, fire board, your end is near. Anderson has the magic hat and we are making our wishes known. Remember Shakespeare's famous line- "out, out, (....) spot.." Anderson is saying, "out, out, good ol' boy system--your time is up and you are gone." The Grand Jury & voters will soon prove that your tenure is over and you will be cast out. Your control is slipping from your grasp like something flushed down a toilet. No pun intended.

Written on Watchdog group forming:

Should the Grand Jury be asked to investigate the Anderson Fire District Board? Citizens-scroll to the bottom of the first page on this website to vote. Vote with a resounding YES.

Written on Watchdog group forming:

Won't it be interesting when we see the results of the fire board being investigated by the Shasta County Grand Jury? Talk about dirty laundry!! They just thought they had power. Their reign in Anderson is over. We, as concerned citizens, are tired of the "good ol' boys" club. Seeing their practice of "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" is sickening and so 50's. Perhaps the chairman of the fireboard should remember that he is also being investigated for financial misconduct. What goes around, comes around. How will the three fire board/city council persons feel when the shoe is on the other foot and their dirty laundry is hung for all to see (and smell). Believe me, it won't be fun, pretty or odorless. Only then will they realize what they are putting Chief Piccinini through. Come on, people! Common sense tells us all that an internal investigation by the fire board would have saved tons of money....tally up the cost of airfare from Montana or wherever the investigator lives,(and that at a last minute price) 3-4 weeks at the Gaia hotel, meals, use of city car (gas is so cheap these days) and city office, cost to send Chief of Police to pick him up at the Sac. airport...and return him there when this is over.....hmmmmm.....here we are needing money for basic necessities to keep our homes and businesses safe, and they spend money like it is water! How about an investigator who had NO ties to Anderson? Fair is fair. This board would do well to remember they can be recalled.

Written on Letters to the editor: June 10, 2009:

I see a Grand Jury investigation in the immediate future of this fire board. It is amazing to me the huge amount of intertwined ties of certain board members with others in this community. Does the term "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" hold any importance? It has up until now. It has been the rule of thumb. We will soon see the end of that. It is time for fair government in Anderson, both on the city level and the fire district level. Let's see how it feels when the shoe is on their foot (feet). Won't it be interesting to have certain fire board members' dirty laundry hung out for the entire community to see? Some citizens will be appalled at the self serving, undermining that goes on in this little "good ol' boys club." If "they" (certain fire board members) think they have power, wait until this is over. (It isn't over until the ... lady sings, and she is ready to sing loudly and clearly.) It may be that certain city council/fire board people will be the object of a recall. Now won't they enjoy being treated the way they are treating Chief Piccinini? Citizens, there is a spot to vote on this website....go there and vote for a Grand Jury Investigation. Let's get rid of the dirty laundry hanging around so we can all have better air to breathe. Fire season is upon us and our chief is on leave? What kind of moronic idea is that? What about the cost to the Fire District and the City for all this investigation? Why wasn't a total stranger from Sacramento or some other close city brought in to do this investigating? Here we are in an economic crisis state wide and this board is spending money like water. Tally up the airfares from Montana or wherever he lives, the three-four week stay at the Gaia hotel, the meals, the use of a city car and office.....etc. Wow, that cannot be inexpensive. I say it is time to force this board to back down and admit they have gone about this whole thing in the wrong way. Perhaps the chairman of the fire board, who, by the way, is being investigated himself for financial wrongdoing, should talk to his board members about having a little compassion and giving our Chief a chance to explain any issues brought against him. Instead, this board is "throwing the baby out with the bath water"....what kind of brain power does that take? Not much!!!

Written on Watchdog group forming:

I hope ALL of these letters are reaching the investigator. If they are going directly to the fire board members, I would worry about that. How easy would it be to say, "Letters? What letters? Never received such letters!" Does the fire board have its' own mailing address or are these going to board members addresses? Are these going to the local newspaper? 130 letters is a huge number for the Anderson area. That is possibly 130 family units. Hopefully both the board and the investigator will take note. If some people hope to be re-elected to certain positions they had better be listening to the people sending these letters of support. The Anderson community seems to be tired of the "good ol' boy-business as usual" system. I agree with this new grass roots support group. Change is coming and Anderson will be a better place because of it.

I agree, norcalaction. While I believe Purcell is a fair and honest man, one wonders why he was hired for this investigation when his roots grow deep into Anderson. Then again, perhaps this is his opportunity to "clean up Anderson government" like he cleaned up the old Oaks Apartments...seems everyone else was afraid to do it...he was not and he succeeded where others failed. Ousting those who think they control Anderson would be a blessing to this community. One also wonders why the fire board did not first conduct an internal investigation. Then again, with one city councilman who is also on the fire board already being investigated for wrong doing, perhaps it was felt that bringing in another investigator was the best way to handle this. Why would the "already being investigated" investigate the man he has accused? One has to wonder. As unfortunate as it is to have this whole mess going on, perhaps this will be the catalyst that ends the "good ol' boy/girl system in Anderson government. Too bad it comes at the cost of this heartache for the Fire Chief and his family. My thoughts and prayers are with them and the former police chief (Purcell) as this unfolds. Concerned Citizens unite and end this travesty of justice.

Written on Purcell is sorting the dirty laundry:

I sincerely hope Purcell is investigating those with special interests in this whole mess, and not just the chief...I think he would have to wear a gas mask to get past all those "dirty shorts." I believe he would find a whole lot of "stuff" done underhandedly by those "in power". A surprise closed session? Get real!! What happened to questioning the Chief about the "charges" before going to the expense of bringing in an "outside" investigator? Couldn't it have been handled by the board and/or the city council (three of whom are running the fire board)? This smacks of the same thing that happened when Purcell was chief the first time and "someone" tried to get him fired....a sort of, "If you do not play my way, I will take my toys and go home." I hope he remembers what kind of people are in Anderson government, and that some, not all, are self serving...get in their way and you are dead. It truly is time for complete change. Our two newest council members seem to be trying, but the others are stuck in their "good ol' boy" system and that will not change until we get them out of office. Anderson citizens should stand up and be counted in this one before we lose a good man who has already been good for the fire district in the short time he has been here.

Written on Retired APD Chief Neil Purcell hired to investigate Anderson's Fire Chief:

You hit the nail on the head, tsky57. As a famous person once said, "There is something rotten in Denmark"(i.e.-Anderson) Today's editorial tells me that the political game is about up and the word is out. It would be very interesting to see just who all on that fire board and in the fire district has "dirty shorts"....and I do NOT believe it is the Fire Chief...perhaps an insider who wants his job, or fire board members who want the spot light off of themselves? Either way, I would say to those people, "You can run but you cannot hide. We know who you are and the citizens in Anderson are ready to face you down, so bring it on." You started it, we will finish it.
