Sometimes a single comment is quite adequate. Now, however, I have *two* upon which to judge you.

Nice work.

judge me??? I'm not a contestant in your life. Here's the skinny, bucko. I think Ms.Shigley has done an outstanding job for the city. I don't care for these two dope smoking creeps taking shots at her. these two could care about Anderson. Their concern is only that the local pot pusher gets to keep his doors open. Ms.Shigley has worked hard to get where she's at. I offer no apologies to them or you. Actually, if we're judging, I've got you pegged for an obnoxious twit who's never got over the fact that he's had to go through life with a girl's name...And, no...I am NOT a nice person and NO, I don't want to be your friend...live with it...

An amazing comment.

HeardEnough, whatever your opinion of "pot," or "potheads," your comment certainly reveals *you* to be an unsocialized boor, and certainly makes those you childishly attack appear far more capable than *you* of functioning in the sort of reality most of us live in.

I'd guess your comments about *anything* can, henceforth, be dismissed as entirely irrelevant to anything.

But do keep trying. The Post needs more comments, even if, like your post, they simply take up space.

oh...sorry...did you say something? oh...now I get it...only YOUR comments are relevant. yep,and I'm really enamored by your ability to evaluate people based on a comment. you're good, you're intelligent, you're everything I aspire to be...now go chase a parked car!

Two comments from drug addicts. Now how much credence to you give them? None! pothead #1 mentions the closing of Prime as if it is devastating to the community. I guess it is if you spend countless hours there between bong hits. Oh...my GOD! they're closing shop on the drug dealers. There goes all those tax dollars. You two addicts are funny. Potheads are funny. That's why Cheech and Chong made money from their movies. You viewed their movies as documentaries, while the normal people enjoyed potheads being stupid. Party on, dudes.

Written on Collectives barred in Anderson:

While Cote is ashamed of the four council members, I am proud that they took a stand. I'm not against mmj. But, it needs to be distributed in another manner. The patients in Anderson are not deprived of their medication. There are 18 dispensaries in Redding. You know, Redding? The city you went to in order to get your recommendation. And kudos to the city for the regulations for backyard grows. In light of the recent home invasions and pot garden thefts in Redding, it appears they did the correct thing.

Written on Anderson pastor mulls State Senate bid:

I prayed over this. Then had my God talk to his God. And, it was decided that the best thing he could do for the citizens of Shasta County was go on a 20 year mission to Zimbabwe. I'm sure I'll be able to find enough supporters to sponsor his flight...

Written on Green Heart owners sue city over medical marijuana collective ban:

A memo was issued in July by the Justice Department putting cities and counties on notice that by allowing dispensaries, they could be charged in aiding and abetting a criminal activity. LEGALLY, both states and cities must follow federal law. Why should the city risk criminal charges on behalf of the Mundays? The permit to operate was for an "agricultural" business, not a dispensary. We'll soon see if this "new industry" will hold up when the Feds shut down the 12 in San Diego and the one in Oakland. They are going after the big fish. If successful, the smaller ones will close rather than risk forfeiture and criminal charges.

Written on Blind Greed:

There are vacant store fronts in Redding because nobody wants to locate in them. No freeway access has hurt retail businesses. Sales tax from this retail center will benefit the county to the tune of $2 million a year. Monies that could provide more deputies or re-open the empty jail cells. When was the last time this parcel was farmed? If it is so important to Churn Creek bottom residents, why haven't they purchased it? This is not a publically financed project. No concessions are being requested. The developer is putting up a large chunk of change. This is not his first shopping center. He's not investing his money to fail. It's NOT your property and it's NOT your money. Everyone has a right to their opinion. But, until you have a stake in the game, it's just an opinion.

Written on Interdistrict transfers cause strife:

if you want to be in a school district, move there. I really don't enjoy paying taxes for Tehama County students to attend West Valley. It wasn't long ago, that a bond was approved for the pools, gyms, and performing arts to be built. How much of this yearly bond is being paid by those out of the district? You don't like the school in your district? See what you can do to improve it. It's YOUR school. Harly North is a big bag of wind. He knows that this has been going on for years. What has he done to help improve Red Bluff High School? Nothing! He encourages parents to send their children to West Valley. Red Bluff High School loses money by a low daily attendance. Money that could be spent to improve the school. I hope Red Bluff holds it's ground and continues to deny transfers.

Written on City hires consultant for APD probe:

I for one am tired of "hiring" an investigator. I don't feel they needed to hire one to get rid of the old fire chief. If you're not happy with an employee's performance, fire him. Do we have to pay this creep until he's found guilty? I am confident that rape or not, he violated some type of procedure. APD would have looked much better by just firing him on the spot.
Let him go to the labor board or sue to get his job back. No, we now have to foot the bill for an investigation, plus his wages. Dale Webb needs to "grow a pair". He knows the behavior of his crew. He needs to tell them that HIS job is in jeorpardy and inact a "zero tolerance" policy for crap like this.

In the case of Officer Modine attending a party where alcohol was supplied to a minor, the chief should have said in front of the entire force..."this is unacceptable for an APD officer. I am putting everyone on notice that I won't allow this type of behavior." give him a week off without pay or wash the cars or something. I think he needs to drop the hammer on everyone!

Written on Underage drinking: Purcell report details frat-like party with cops:

According to the article, Chief Webb could not be made aware until the report was released. Had Purcell or the fire board told him, they could have been sued by ex-firechief Piccinni. I am sure knowing Chief Webb, this was NOT swept under the rug, and the officers involved have been dealt with. We'll never know that, as it is a personel matter. Also, how were the officers to know the age of drinkers. One would assume that the host or fellow firefighters would know his age and act accordingly.

Written on Letter to the Editor: Jan 27, 2010:

maybe the fire board should sue the paper to get the names of members of this "citizen's group".

Written on Report paints a sordid picture of former fire chief:

Dear Mr. Winship,
It's good to see after reading the report that you NOW understand the depth of this man's behavior. It wasn't about Comnick wanting favors. It wasn't about getting rid of him to open the job for Nichols. I recall your editorial at the time taking three council persons to task over his potential firing. I also recall what I felt was bias reporting in favor of the "concerned citizens" group. Because of your stand, you have lost credability and respect from many in the Anderson community. Why was this anonymous group given so much print? How about some coverage on this group now that the report is public? Why did they fight so hard to save this obnoxious creep's job? Many of us in the community know who they are. Do the community a favor and expose them.

Comnick was accused of punishing the chief for not favoring a friend's project. Shaeffer was accused of insinuating that one of the concerned citizens was hooking at the Handy Spot.
Webster was accused of illegal acts. The firemen were accused of wanting to get rid of him over a proposed conditioning program. Nichols was accused of wanting his job. Lots of accusations you printed with no merit. Fair reporting? I think not. You have some fences to mend. I suggest you start with the fire department.

Written on Letters to the editor: Jan. 13, 2010:

We will never see an apology from either the Valley Post or the Concerned Citizens...Mr. Winship tied himself to the wrong wagon. He has no respect from the "real" concerned citizens in Anderson. As to that hate mongering citizen's group, most of them and their leader have NEVER had the respect of the Anderson community.

Written on Economy forces 2010 Logging Conference to abandon Anderson fairgrounds:

in response to Involucre:

Maybe Andy Nichols will have time to be a fire chief instead of running the Logging Conference. I certainly hope Quality Timber Logging doesn't suffer. Did anyone ask Mr. Nichols if he was taking half salary from AFPD since he does all his timber business during the day while he's supposedly a firefighter? Conflict of interest isn't it? Maybe Fincher can look into that one and begin an investigation.

Be careful what you comment on. If untrue, you can be sued for defamation. You need to research the first amendment. Is does not protect you against stating untruths, even against a public official. You are not protected by the shield law as you are not a journalist and your identity can be uncovered. just a word of caution.

Written on Nichols promoted to fire chief:

Written on Fire board cancels controversial meeting:

in response to firefightersupports:

This is getting so very old there are more important things that need to be going on besides bashing the fire department and the firefighters. It is in the best interest for the firefighters if they do have an input into the new fire chief look what happened with the last one. And as for the firefighters not having the courage to speak out in public they are there to help save your asses when you need them not to deal with all the political b.s. that has been happening in that department. I think that takes all of the courage in the world to do what most people wouldn't even think of doing. And for the volunteers they do it without being paid and do it to make the place that you live in a safer place. They don't need to put up with all of the insults and slams from small minded people on here that have nothing better to do than to open their mouths when they don't know what has been going on. I have kept quiet long enough and read all of it and it's time to stop and let these men and women get back to doing what they love to do and that is to help everyone else that needs it, without the needless insults. These are brave people and what would we do without them. Think about that the next time one of you wants to take a slam at one of them

AMEN to that! most of the "concerned citizens" who back the former chief would crap their pants in the situation these fire fighters face. going to a "code blue" or an accident involving a child is not for the faint of heart. they obviously think that all fire fighters do is play cards and polish the trucks. in order to perform their duties, they need good leadership. a good leader is also a "role model", especially for the younger volunteers.

i have noticed for all the hatred directed at both the board and department that not one has to date applied for a position in the upcoming election. i entered the fray because i too was upset over their remarks. i really don't have a dog in this fight. i admire the board and fire fighters for what they do. if they hate norma comnick, they need to take it up with her personally.

on a personal note, i have had to call the EMTs on several occassions and was damn glad they were there. perhaps if one of these "concerned citizens" is ever in need of medical help, they can call one of their fellow members for aid.

YES! I SUPPORT THE FIREFIGHTERS for making my city safer. I SUPPORT the council for making my city a nice place to live. I SUPPORT the police department for fighting crime in my city. I do NOT support the local editor for his giving any type of credibility to this hate group.

Just maybe there are some people out there who know more than you about the situation with Fitzpatrick (I know you find that outrageous but just give it a thought). As far as your last paragraph, I assume you wrote that while looking in the mirror.

All I've ever said or implied or even suggested is that it appears there are lots of people needing to be investigated here in Anderson. The grand jury agrees or did you miss that part? Not sure what your personal agenda is with all this, maybe just an attention thing. If that's what it is, have fun with it. I doubt I reply further to you because intellectually you are no challenge.

I've reread everything ad nauseum and it all adds up to the same answer. You're guilty of twisting truth to fit your own misguided logic. Not sure why you're so quick to defend Fitzpatrick who is under investigation and possible disbarment if convicted.

The Anderson Valley Post reports fairly. If it appears everyone you seem to worship with unquestionable adoration is being so severely wronged in your eyes, then maybe it's time for you to take off your blinders. Also, if they ask you to drink the Kool-Aide you better rethink that one.

where did you read that fitzpatrick is possibly going to be dis-barred? if untrue, that is defamation of character, and not covered by the first amendment. I will request the removal of your post. let's see if the Valley Post honors their own terms of service.

Written on Investigators incensed over licensure issue; attorney taking hits for PERS:

if you think there is not a bias, re-read this and other articles. Where is the statement from Fitzpatrick? Was he contacted? If so, was there a "no comment"? Where were the interviews during the investigation? Was Purcell or Fitzpatrick interviewed to explain the validity of using a non-licensed investigator? Does the paper EVER interview other parties? I don't think we, as a readership, will ever get a true story from the Valley Post again. Rather than have the Red Bluff Daily News cover Anderson. Why not ask the Anderson High School journalism class do it. They would do a far better job.

from one of your previous posts on June 20th...

"It will be interesting to see if Finchers announcement to the firefighters was his own hopes and you had not already leaked Comnick's premeditated decision to him."

You will note the absense of an apostrophe between the "r" and the "s" at the end of Fincher's name. In reviewing several of your posts, I have also noted your inappropriate use and lack of spacing while using the comma. Parenthesis also require a space both before and after their use.

I have forwarded copies of your former posts to the "spelling police" for their review. Any infractions will be noted and placed on your permanent record as it should be. After all, spelling and puncuation are important.

Heard Enough, as usual you are misinformed. He did man up and never ever should have given in to the whims of the Fire Board and just resigned from the beginning. He dealt with an illegal investigation, a Fire Board with no spine and firefighters who are too lazy to do much more than whine. The volunteers had to do as they were told, no matter what Bellinger tries to portray. All the firefighters, both paid and volunteer, were clearly given direction in no uncertain terms that they better fall in line or else. The Chief did not fail the Fire Board, they clearly failed him. Nichol's latest comments about morale being better...you bet it is, now they have no responsibilities and can go back to the Don Matheson days of just playing cards, watching TV and sleeping.

Now, who wouldn't you rather have for a boss? A progressive forward thinking professional, or a hayseed who is clearly in over his head and has no concept of what real fire fighting or the brotherhood is all about? If you answered the later, then the interim chief is your man.

i guess I have been misinformed. those poor firefighters being coerced and all. stupid illegal investigation. the DA said the investigation was legal. he's probably in on the whole thing up to his bald shiney head. send my apologies to the chief...

Can't wait for the next big news story in Anderson to hit - then you can jump on that bandwagon.

Funny, the same person who helped her in that endeavor was working for the AFD Chief at the same time he was ousted, and was working for Sammis when he was dumped. Hmmmmm....sure smells familiar, doesn't it?

I think you can quit worrying. The fire board was not acting on an anonymous letter. They acted on a complaint from the district fire fighters. This has all been clarified.
