Written on Anderson plans for posterity:

The outlet mall is in danger of being lost altogether, talk to any of the merchants to see how unhappy they truly are. The mall is verging on empty which does nothing to help draw customers. It used to be a destination spot but no longer. Mayor Schaefer continually talks about past successes and does nothing but give lip service to his grandiose plans of the future. Promote downtown Anderson – right, tear down a few more oleander bushes and call it progress. Attributing success to APD? Please, what do they do aside from protecting the city. I’m not knocking them, but they are merely doing their jobs. They don’t bring in business, if they did, where is it? We need tangible businesses, not pretty "band aids" such as bike paths or curbs. Potential restaurants and sidewalk cafes have asked to be located downtown, but Schaefer and his colleagues have turned a blind eye since alcoholic beverages would be served. The Gaia has been around for a few years; quit resting on the laurels of the past and move forward. People go to Redding or elsewhere for a nice evening out. Anderson could be progressive, but it won’t with people running city government who have no clear vision or understanding. By the way, Rite Aid opened to much fanfare, but what will happen to its empty shell of a building on Balls Ferry Road shopping center along with Ace Hardware’s vacancy? I think Schaefer is guilty of wearing the emperor’s clothes or imagining himself as Don Quixote and slaying a few windmills. Delusion in its finest form.

Written on Economy forces 2010 Logging Conference to abandon Anderson fairgrounds:

As far as Mr. Nichols being a good example of anything, it would have to be the "good old boy", don't make us work attitude. That's a fact, not idle gossip.

Written on Anderson plans for posterity:

Why don't you do something tangible like get more tenants in Shasta Outlet Mall. Have you driven through the mall in the last few months...empty stores everywhere.

Written on Economy forces 2010 Logging Conference to abandon Anderson fairgrounds:

Maybe Andy Nichols will have time to be a fire chief instead of running the Logging Conference. I certainly hope Quality Timber Logging doesn't suffer. Did anyone ask Mr. Nichols if he was taking half salary from AFPD since he does all his timber business during the day while he's supposedly a firefighter? Conflict of interest isn't it? Maybe Fincher can look into that one and begin an investigation.

Written on Nichols promoted to fire chief:

Take a good look at the picture of Nichols and Fincher...notice anything? Both of them appear to be terribly overweight. What kind of example will the new chief set as far as being physically fit and ensuring his men are at the peak of their condition? I would venture to say they will remain a hazard to the citizens of Anderson because they can't perform their jobs at the level they should. Did you know that Nichols could not rescue a victim from a car accident because he was too overweight and was forced to call for assistance since he couldn't get far enough into the car's opening to assist her.

Chief Piccinini wanted a physical fitness regime and his firefighters didn't. Hopefully the new board will enforce a program and see to it that it's followed. Better yet, maybe they'll "fire" Nichols and seek out a qualified chief. Nichols wasn't qualified two years ago for the position and he isn't now. You'll see the fire department revert back to the lack of motivation and half-assed way of doing things as during Matheson's tenure.

Bad politics and bad government continue in Anderson. What a shame and what an embarrassment. Butch should have discussed the dissatisfaction with Anderson's politics this year as expressed by its own citizens during his State of the City address. Now THAT would have been newsworthy.

Written on Do you think emergency services in Anderson Fire Protection District will improve with its new chief and planned additional firemen?:

Written on APD's National Night out on Tuesday features 10 block parties:

You better hope you make it to the ice cream at the fire station before all the out of shape FF's slurp it up. Hateful people = Fire Board.

Written on Fire District receives $39,543 tab for Piccinini investigation:

goodday2all...nice to see your helpfulness with all the Tulsa addys. I bet he never ever thought to do that himself (insert snicking here). No one recalls hearing the Chief say he was moving back to Tulsa.

Written on Fire board quiet about Chief Piccinini's future:

No, she had one of her other puppets do it like Butch or Keith. They're always happy to serve.

Do you realize when we do an investigation of Comnick her binders will have to hauled around in wheelbarrows they'll be so thick? Since Webster's political wrong doings are fast approaching his will be as bad.

Bellinger looked uncomfortable in his reading to the audience tonight, almost as if a gun was pointed in his back.

Purcell's report is dirty and so is this entire investigation, anonymous letter game that's being played.

Written on Letter alleges foul play by Anderson fire board:

As each day goes by the dirtier this seems to get. After this is finally settled (and it could be years considering all the civil lawsuits to follow) maybe Anderson should change its name and start fresh. Kind of like a witness relocation program for crooked cities.

Seriously enough is enough. The Chief should be reinstated and a personal apology issued to his family for this hideous mess.

Written on Board hears investigation of Anderson fire chief, delays ruling:

How is it after the action and behavior of the fire board last night that Chief Piccinini can get a fair judgment from these individuals? An independent party of either citizens or grand jury members need to be brought in to look at the evidence and give a fair and just decision. If you were the Chief and you faced a hostile board, wouldn’t you be concerned as well? Truly, his rights are being violated. The board cannot take any criticism or even allow for its own citizens to question their past practices. Obviously, they are taking all their frustrations and anger out on the Chief, and you can bet your last breath their brand of justice will be termination, never mind what their constituents wish. Tyranny still exists.

Written on Should the Shasta County Grand Jury be asked to look into the affairs and management practices of the Anderson Fire Protection District including the board of directors and public allegations of their misuse of power?:

Yes!!! Why do they think they can create the law as they go along or twist the effect to fit their means? Have they never been advised by the fire district's legal counsel, i.e., Fitzpatrick? Maybe he should be investigated himself as also being one of the puppets by allowing Purcell to be the investigator.

Written on Retired APD Chief Neil Purcell hired to investigate Anderson's Fire Chief:

Let's make no mistake sickofit, she's not the only one with dirty laundry. There are at least two or three who come to mind easily.

Written on Retired APD Chief Neil Purcell hired to investigate Anderson's Fire Chief:

This is exactly what I'm saying Politics_in_Anderson. A change is due and we, as citizens, have the right to a fair government.

Written on Retired APD Chief Neil Purcell hired to investigate Anderson's Fire Chief:

Maybe the death bell is finally tolling for crooked politicians on various boards. We need a change in government accountability in Anderson. What a novel idea that democracy could actually exist and people wouldn't feel persecuted. Does anyone really believe the "Anderson, California: No Room for Racism, Hate or Violence" that we so proudly proclaim when entering our city?
