Mr. Winship said it well in his article about fire safety. We, as Anderson residents, desire a safe community. If both Mr. DeCarlo and Mr. Piccinini tried to bring in the same safety codes, and were asked to resign, where does that leave us? It leaves us right back in the hands of this "unholy trinity" or "good ol' boys system." It is time for this Fire Board to step down and leave the decision making to the newly elected board. But, no, I am sure they will want their "cronies" in place as soon as possible. That way they can leave their legacy behind-you know, the micromanagement of everything this city tries to do right. The "unholy trinity" should resign, NOW, from every position they hold in Anderson. Just as they forced the last two Chiefs to step down, they should be forced to do the same. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Does Comnick really think she can offer bribe money from her campaign funds? It is illegal, folks. Does Schaefer really think he can yell and spit in a resident's face, slam the Handi Spot Market and get away with it? Evidently he does. Does Webster really think we believe him when he says he FORGOT to report $15,000 and recuse himself from votes concerning the property by the river? Evidently, he does.Unless we, the citizens of Anderson, stand up and call for their resignations, they will continue with business as usual, continuing to think that they do have the right to run things as they see fit. The only problem--their thinking is skewed! They need to call it a day, pack it in and resign now!!

Andersonlegend: "The decision ALL FIVE 'bored' members have to make..."Are board members'bored'?Yes, they should keep Chief-discipline if needed. He's a good man who genuinely cares,& is educated and gifted in fire protection skills. We need him.
I have no issue with Mr. Bosetti or Marcia Kelly. As AndersonMom states, their votes are worthless since they are just 2.The other three I know. I don't hate any of them. I dislike the way they handle business for Anderson. Comnick has far too much input into the public arena from her personal vendetta list. When she's upset, she works tirelessly behind the scenes to oust someone. Schaeffer and Webster go along with what she wants. She controls them. That is a sad state of affairs for any community.
I feel that this mess is a personal vendetta instigated against Chief by Comnick. When he refused to give her friend Brown, a 'pass' on installing sprinklers in his new building, he was already 'toast'. That very day she began her whispering agenda-a whisper here, one there, and it began. She waits & watches for more "mistakes" to add to the list. As others join her, it spreads until it erupts into the bitter mess we now have. She says she's a Christian. I would ask, "If you cannot love & treat fairly the people you see, how can you love the Heavenly Father whom you cannot see?"
Hard working fire fighters who love their jobs have been swept into her agenda. I appreciate our fire personnel and their work. However, she uses people to her own ends. It'd be hard for volunteers who love what they do to stand up against someone like Comnick who wields such 'power' in our community.
Let's see what happens with the recall. Anderson has had successful ones before. I believe the unholy trinity will soon be gone, replaced by honest people who care about Anderson. Webster may be gone sooner because of the state investigation. He's broken the law and the state does not deal lightly with his type of 'mistake'.
Such things must stop in Anderson. It is past time for honest government. Decisions should not be made from Comnick's personal agenda. We need elected officials who want the best for our community. AFD & APD work hard for us, and I appreciate it. Each must have a strong leader.
We need government 'for'&'by'people who have no personal agendas & care about their fellow man. There are people like that in Anderson. We already have two on the City Council. We need three more. There are people here who would serve us well. Let's do what it takes to get them in office.
a-b-s-e-n-c-e absence, meaning not to be presenti.e. she was noted by the absence of her sanity
Here you go again, trying to take the spotlight off of the real issues, trying to project your own hate onto others who simply want fair and honest government in Anderson for all citizens.
I feel sorry for you.
By the way, the men in our concerned citizens group(and there are many) probably do not like being called ladies. Of course it does not really matter, you will believe what you believe.
Sounds like you are in Comnick's overcrowded pocket. Hope you enjoy it when your turn comes and you are on her hate agenda.
Dog and pony show is exactly right. Did the unholy trinity seem nervous? Yes,I hear they did. They set up for the meeting in the community room expecting a large turn out for another of their popular shows. I understand they did not need it. The regular meeting room would have worked just as well. I was told there were fewer firefighters attending as well. See, their ratings are already going down. They will not even have reruns to offer. When it is over for them, it is over.
I am so glad I did not attend another "look at us" show. I did not want to see Schaeffer have a heart attack or go into a rage as he did at the last meeting. One thing, though, Bellinger in his ill fitting funeral suit could have led the ranks as they performed CPR on Schaeffer should he have needed it.
One thing I hear we did miss, was Comnick with all of her "paperwork" in a little old lady cart that she pulled behind her from the fire hall to the community room. Now that must have been a sight to see. Talk about grandstanding! That must have been priceless.
As for HeardEnough mentioning those huge binders-another grandstand ploy since they were not even half full of paperwork.
This show is too bad to even be called dog and pony-more like Dumb & Dumber.
I saw the cartoon, Tiredofit, and I think it should be posted all over Anderson. These buffoons are way past their time of effectiveness.
AndersonMom-50+?, try 75+ for Comnick, way too long in the tooth and far too senile to continue in Anderson government. She is through here. Concerned Citizens are seeing to that. Bribery and the "good ol' boy" system will not be allowed to continue in our community.
Webster might have a chance of saving himself if he votes to throw this whole thing out. If he cares about Anderson, as he claims, he will do just that. Otherwise, he, as well as Schaeffer and Comnick are finished. Fitzpatrick had better check deeply into the legality of this whole issue. How can you support a system where a fire board member/city council person actually tried to bribe the firemen?
Isn't that against the law, Mr. Fitzpatrick? Isn't it against the law to hire a private citizen with no license to delve into this investigation?
HeardEnough-glad to see you have finally come over to the right side. You must be not be classless after all.
Yes,Chief should soon be back at work. We will all feel safer with fire season here, knowing he is making plans for emergencies in case we need them. He may be minus part of a fire board but heck, there are plenty of people backing him.
Surely there is something that can be done to have an 'interim fire board' until elections happen. After all, surely there are plans in place just in case a fire board member(s) needs to be replaced immediately. Right?
Oh, and if Fincher and Nichols decide to run away, I bet Chief can get more heart and soul out of those other firefighters who support him (and us), than Fincher and Nichols ever thought about having.
Yes, the Chief should be reinstated and certainly his family is owed an apology for this whole screwed up illegal investigation.
You know, unholy trinity, there are times in all of our lives when we must admit we are wrong, apologize and move on so healing can come.
You will reap what you sow. You have sowed a boatload of trouble into this community. You will sow a boatload of grief if you do not retract this whole mess.
Well, duh, comes to mind!!Wouldn't it be rather strange to "employ Purcell" from Montana when we already have a darn good detective in the Anderson Police Department? Also,HeardEnough, at least you have a sense of humor-or you watch too many TV commercials.
Welcome, veryconcernedcitizen2009, to this group. Unholy trinity-this is just one more voter, who will influence who knows how many others, to vote for justice in Anderson.
Do you three get it yet?
To The Anderson Fire Board/City Council people facing "conflict of interest" charges (among others)-: "If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'." "When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty." "Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in."
Dirty politics has torn a huge hole in the fabric of our Anderson community. You expected to allow Comnick to quietly get rid of Chief P. because he refused to bend the law for her friends. Instead, you now realize that you have let the cat out of the bag. We all know how you have worked to appoint and re-appoint yourselves to boards, taking turns being Mayor,(go figure)continuing your own brand of illegal and mean spirited "law" in this community.
The ONLY way to perhaps redeem yourselves is to take a step back, realize where you went wrong and try to rectify the wrong you have done. Wash your hands of this illegal investigation. If you truly love Anderson, you will rethink this whole scheme and try to make things right.
Heard a song on the radio tonight. One line literally jumped out at me and I immediately thought of the unholy trinity. The line was, "you made your bed now lie in it."
I want to admonish the unholy trinity that they are "making their bed" when they make a decision regarding the Chief this week. If you guys expect to remain in the Anderson political arena, you had best "make your choice of beds" carefully.
BlueSuedeShoes is right-we do reap what we sow. I hope you will show mercy in your decision concerning our Chief. Do not expect Anderson voters to understand if you do otherwise.
Amazing that he has had near perfect reviews until this last one. Now all of a sudden you are ready to get rid of him? This should have been an internal investigation from the start-but it could not be, I forgot, Comnick already had Chief fired the minute he refused to allow her buddy Tom Brown to build without a sprinkler system in his building plans. Her plans to bring her "friend" Purcell in to 'investigate' shows that she thought he would give her the report she needed to get rid of Chief.
Remember, Schaeffer and Webster, when you cross her 'made up mind' and do not side with her, she will be after you as well. However, her reign will not last long. She is done in Anderson. Her dirty politics have run rampant for far too many years.
Citizens are watching and waiting. You would do well to remember that!!
JustChillin-If you are a retired fireman who hates lazy, worthless politicians, then you should know all about the Brown Act and Comnick as well.
As stated so many times in this post, the Brown Act prohibits detailing accusations at this point to protect both the accusers and the accused.
As for worthless politicians, need I say more? Read the letter from Debe Hopkins (on this website) about the secret meeting where Comnick tried to bribe firefighters with dessert and campaign funds. That, of course, is only the latest in her long career of bending the rules for her friends(she has a few left) and trying to make herself look good to the public. But, I warn you as so many people have found out, do NOT cross her. If you do, she will move heaven and earth, if she can, to beat you down in any way possible. Her ways may not be legal but they have worked for her so far.
However, Anderson voters are sick of her reign of terror. Recall is in her future.
Believe me, this situation will not be forgotten. It is time for the pied piper to be stopped in her tracks. All the rats following her should be retrained if that is possible.
Saw Webster heading south on I-5 today-wonder if there was another secret meeting in Red Bluff? Better yet, maybe he is high tailing it out of town-you know, getting out while the getting is good?
You have your facts straight, AndersonMom. Seems to me Comnick has a person or two who keep trying to take the focus off of where it is-and should be.
Justchillin' should remember that Anderson Voters are smart and gaining more confidence to stand up and be heard on a daily basis now. Comnick's rule is over, no matter which of her two supporters try to say otherwise.
The law is the law is the law. At least when Comnick is prosecuted she will have two people visiting her-unless they also run far far away at that point.
I hope Anderson citizens all own boots, soon it will be impossible to walk around here without them. Alas, RedStilettos and BlueSuedeShoes will have to buy army boots, but I bet they are up to walking tall in those as well.
The letter from Ms. Hopkins is very interesting.
How dare a city council person offer to misuse campaign funds to further her push to get rid of our Fire Chief?
If this letter does not prove to the Anderson Community at large that Comnick has pushed her own sick agenda for far too long, then too many people have their heads in the sand. Perhaps the judge who ultimately rules on this should force her to walk the streets here wearing a sandwich sign board that says CONFLICT OF INTEREST, OWN SICK AGENDA, YES, AS A MATTER OF FACT I AM THE QUEEN AROUND HERE, MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY.
So the stuff is hitting the fan.
Interesting that Comnick was not available for comment.
Debe Hopkins is right to ask for "open and honest political practice"(s). This micro-management controlling system Comnick has in place must be stopped. It has gone on far too long. Anderson, wake up and fight this injustice! Wake up Schaeffer and Webster! This is your last chance to shelve this matter and leave it for an unbiased, elected board. I believe both of you are good people with a heart for Anderson, but you have been in Comnick's clutches so long, you no longer feel the talons that are choking the life out of you and your political careers. Restore our Chief to run his department during this critical fire season.
I agree that hard questions must be answered. It will be interesting to see what the answers are to the questions asked by both the Valley Post and the Concerned Citizens group.
Yes, this is tearing into the fabric of our town. One thing, however, is certain. As someone stated in the blogs, it has made normally quiet people stand up and be counted. Every voter in this district has to be aware of the political acts of our council and fire district board. For far too long, too many of us have stood by, watched and felt helpless.
I am sorry this awakening is at the expense of Chief and his family. They really are good people. Perhaps they came to Anderson for "such a time as this" (reference to Queen Esther in the Bible)When things are resolved fairly, people will move on. In the meantime, I agree that "those without sin" should cast the first stone. That must begin in each of us, but especially with those who set this whole thing in motion. None of us are guiltless and we should have mercy when dealing with the lives of others. I, for one, will always state my opinion, watch local government and be an INVOLVED citizen-no longer one who thinks nothing can be done.
This truly seems a travesty of justice, something I am sure a man with so many years of police work behind him, has to know. Why didn't Purcell say, "Thanks, but no thanks." Instead, he has put a huge blemish on his illustrious career in this area. Allegedly without the proper licensing, he jumped into the middle of something bigger than he or his unholy trinity pals (including V) even began to know. (Read big time Brown Act violations from the very conception of this whole mess. I see bigtime law suits in many people's future.)
The problem with such doing without thinking first is just that. Too many things have been done at the behest of Comnick's smoldering anger for far too long. If she gets a "bee in her bonnet" or someone "does not behave the way she wants", then here we go. (That's her sign.) Her campaigns to get rid of people and ruin careers in this area are notorious. (For example, anyone remember the rumors she started about Les Baugh during their campaigns for County Supervisor?)Don't mess with Comnick or you are done, sooner rather than later.
It will be interesting to see whether this fire board is smart enough to shelve this whole mess and put Chief back to work since fire season is upon us. I shudder to even think about it without the Chief at the helm. Unfortunately, the acting fire chief does not have the education or skills to take Chief's place, even though he may think he does.
I say if this fire board wants to leave office with any modicum of dignity at all, they should leave this for the elected fire board to decipher and fairly deal with. If they ever hope to be politicians again (recall, anyone?), they would make the smartest move of their careers and recuse themselves from this whole unholy mess.
I agree, Schaefer is just trying to take the scrutiny off of himself and onto Chief. Wonder if those who supposedly listed grievances against the chief are sweating bullets for fear that it will all become public and their cover is blown.
Could it be that they fear Comnick so much that they simply do whatever she tells them to? What is she using to bribe them? It would be interesting to talk to the firefighters who did NOT show up at last week's meeting and see what they REALLY think. Does she honestly think she can control that many people forever?
Does the wannabe chief think that his true motives will not come out eventually? Does he think he can do all of this and have his fellow firefighters NOT know what he is doing? At some point, there has to be enough honest, God-fearing, hard working firefighters in this group who will stand up for what is right NO MATTER WHAT!! I urge you to gather together and stand against this unholy mess. Put your own heart felt morals on display and stand up!!
To MarriedtoaCUB-sounds like you are in a position to know what you are talking about. I spoke with the immediate family member of an Anderson Fire Fighter who stated, "We have to remain neutral since __ is a fightfighter." That is so sad. If only 16 out of 40 stood up for the Fire Board, where are the others? Intimidated, I would imagine by the fact that they like and want their jobs, and want to remain fire fighters. I would also speculate that they have no issue with the Chief, which is why they did not attend that Fire Board meeting last Thursday. It would be interesting to talk to other people who saw our Chief in action at Fire Camp last summer. I bet they would agree with MarriedtoaCUB completely. This Fire Board had better recuse themselves and put our Chief back to work. I doubt that they themselves will ever have the respect of Anderson voters again. They have certainly lost it with my entire family-not just my immediate family.
What a shame that this has been allowed to go on in our wonderful community for so long. Thank you, Concerned Citizens for bringing it to our attention. I see investigations, recalls and "not in our town" votes in the future of the afore mentioned "unholy trinity." We must really live up to the "Not in Our Town" motto. It has been a sham up to now.
Reddinglegaleagle makes a darn good point. Why did Mr. Shaffer continue making snide remarks at the meeting about Chief P. wanting things kept quiet, when in fact, their own legal counsel (Fitzpatrick) has issued the statement Reddinglegaleagle quoted? Just one more time that this trio is caught doing their own thing their own way. Now they are trying to cover themselves in this badly botched investigation. They are only digging themselves in deeper by the minute. This could result in a serious lawsuit against this board and the city for conflict of interest, since the trio are members of both Fire Board and City Council. I hope they all have plenty of insurance. There never has been integrity in this investigation, or it would not have started with bringing in the former police chief to do the investigating. It would be interesting to find out what his fee is costing the district.
