Written on Letter alleges foul play by Anderson fire board:

LuvAnderson: WOW, How do you follow up to a post like that? It sums it all up and states just what it is. Too bad those you are trying to convey the message to are not listening. Too bad they may end up listening the hard way through a recall process. I only hope they become the three wise men/women and reinstate the chief.

Written on Letter alleges foul play by Anderson fire board:

I do agree that Scott Morgan is a class act; however I also think the fire chief is a class act. If the board who is also the majority of the city council is going to hold the fire chief accountable for some sort of mismanagement practices then it should work both ways. The management of the City of Anderson has gifted public funds to a private citizen conducting an illegal investigation in the way of a vehicle, city personnel, office and equipment. Shouldn’t the management of the City of Anderson be held accountable as well? Or are we going to see as usual one-sided politics?

Written on Letter alleges foul play by Anderson fire board:

LuvAnderson: how right you are, they will be watched, all five of them though not just the three. The two board members who are not city councilors need to know as well that they too are being watched. And we will remember their actions WHEN and IF they run for the fire board in November. As for the others just a point of interest - there are 4,091 registered voters in Anderson, it takes only 10 signatures to initiate a recall and only 1023 signatures to implement a recall. Doesn’t sound like too much of an effort to me.

As far as Webster being investigated by the FPPC, I guess now we can get a two-for-one deal as the FPPC investigates Comnick for offering $215 from her city council campaign fund. As George Winship pointed out in his last editorial, let the one without sin cast the firt stone.

"Fincher acknowledged he was present at the fire fighter’s union meeting on Saturday, June 13"....A union meeting? Oh come on, can’t you come up with something better then that. If it was a union meeting why were there so many non-union (the volunteers) people there? This was no union meeting, it was another clandestine meetings like the one they had in Red Bluff!

Written on Board hears investigation of Anderson fire chief, delays ruling:

Just heard from a very credible source that Andy Nichols said several members of the Anderson Fire District were seen with several Anderson Fire Board members in Red Bluff for a secret meeting. Just another witness for Chief Piccinini. How much longer is this going to go on?

Written on Board hears investigation of Anderson fire chief, delays ruling:

Slander of the chief from Board members; defamation of his character and reputation; Brown Act violations; collusion from the board, by the district, and it members; culpability; conspiracy within to unseat the chief; undo duress (six weeks of investigation); CONFLICT OF INTREST; unfair investigation; unfair labor practices; going against legal counsel; the list goes on and on and on. No matter what the chief has done his judges, jury and executioners (the Board) are totally reprehensible in their heinous behavior.

Written on Board hears investigation of Anderson fire chief, delays ruling:

I am sitting here watching the city council meeting and just saw two speakers on behalf of the fire chief. Both of them had some excellent points and sounded very intelligent. The thing I can’t believe is Butch Schaefer just sitting there all red faced and rolling his eyes. What’s wrong with this guy, how is it he is the Mayor of this town acting like a child, trying to belittle and derogate these people as well as trying to minimize the situation. I wish I would have been there to call him down on it. He has made this whole situation nothing but a joke, the joke he is. If we’re calling for anybody to step down it should be him. Back to the meeting!

Just an FYI I had a visit from a police officer today who believes that through his investigation Purcell has committed possible misdemeanors. Question is, who’s going to investigate the investigator?

Written on Board hears investigation of Anderson fire chief, delays ruling:

I too have been doing QUITE of bit of research, and have found the use of someone like Neal Purcell to conduct an investigation on a personnel matter to be very unusual. I have a few emails to and from the Fair Labor Standards Act as well as the California Department of Labor and they have never heard of such a thing, using someone who has been part of the system (retired), yet no longer in the system such as in an internal affairs division.

It is not as if Mr. Purcell is part of the internal affairs division of the Anderson Fire District, or in any way affiliated with the Anderson Police Department or other law enforcement agency in California. For all intents and purposes he is nothing more than a citizen much like you and I. To allow someone who is not licensed, bonded and insured to conduct such an investigation is a complete violation of privacy laws and Brown Act violations. I would venture to say that through his investigation, he has gleaned information through improper channels that you or I as a citizen could not obtain. I would think that a complete investigation of the Anderson Police Department (APD) is in order and would venture to guess that one would find that information from APD was provided to this private citizen. I would also venture to guess that his notes and recordings are being transcribed by a few members of APD which again are complete violations of privacy laws and the Brown Act.

The obvious use of utilizing an APD vehicle, office space and personnel, as well as using the city of Anderson office space as a private citizen, is again a violation.

From every response I have received the main thread is that his actions can be construed as a complete conflict of interest, if not illegal.

It’s easy to stand behind someone when you feel the entire situation and action from the fire board was unjustly warranted. We support the Chief and know that he is only human and as such prone to making mistakes. If the Chief did something that was a real travesty don’t you think he would have been dismissed by now? It doesn’t take six weeks to figure that out. Based on the fact that an anonymous letter was sent with multiple allegations what validity do you really think these allegations have? If he did something wrong, deal with it, many people have already said it but there are many ways to mete out punishment from a reprimand to suspension without pay, or a combination of both.

Based on the history of the Board/Council members we have to question their actions. 1) The infamous anonymous letter routine, 2) Not conducting their own internal investigation, 3) Procuring a hired gun instead of a TRULY independent investigator that would be above board, 4) The board going against legal advice wishing to make this public, 5) A board member who becomes explosive (you have to ask does he a personal vendetta against the Chief), 6) Board members spreading misinformation.

You stated that not allowing the Salvation Army to occupy the antique mall building was just wrong, and with that I agree. And why did that happen, it was because three council members did just as they felt and not what the public’s wishes were. With that said, I can’t believe you would just sit idly by and let them continue to brandish their unyielding power that you allow them to perceive they have.

Hey Treachery_Runs_Deep thats quite poetic or prophetic no matter what though the situation is quite pathetic.

To MarriedtoaCUB

We have many prayer warriors of different faiths praying for the Chief's return. Those of us who are truly faithful believe just as you stated earlier that we are only human, and because we are human, we are flawed.

I believe by faith that the Chief will be reinstated back to his position. To walk in faith is what we must do.

Written on Board hears investigation of Anderson fire chief, delays ruling:

MarriedtoaCUB, I do agree with you, each time I have seen Chief Piccinini whether on or off duty he is always a very professional guy. I understand that there are a few times that he has let his hair down off duty but after all, like you stated he is only human.

I also heard the rumor that he was accused of wrong doing last summer, seems there was a rumor that he doubled-dipped, a rumor that was started to discredit him even more. When in fact to do what was implied is nearly impossible.

I believe in faith that he will be reinstated back to his position as fire chief.

Kenworth? The building still stands empty and after all how much money did the City of Anderson put into the improvements (roads, water lines, pump stations, etc.) for that building to be built. Seems as though it has actually been a cost to us, the taxpayers. Another Comnick wonder!

To HeardEnough:

Webster IS being investigated for receiving $15,000 that was not reported on his economic disclosure statements, with both the city of Anderson and the Anderson Fire District. He failed to mention his official standing with the company or reveal that he had received about $15,000 for his secretarial duties between August 2007 and January of this year.

Written on Letters to the editor: June 10, 2009:

I posted only once so far, sitting back just watching and waiting to see what would happen. But at this point this is stupid. But as the old saying goes "stupid is as stupid does". The one question I do have like so many others is, why someone like Diane Davis or Chuck Lebak (sp) of Redding who do these types of investigations were not asked to conduct this particular one.

You’re right about the short notice. So short a notice that they couldn’t wait for it to be published in the Valley Post, the real Anderson newspaper. Who wants to bet that Purcell doesn’t even have his “already guilty no matter what report” complete yet and that tonight’s meeting will have to be continued. Comnick’s puppet strings are more like a noose. Cruise ships are always needing good ventriloquist acts so I think she could take her show on the road. At least she would be employed and out of our town along with her other two sidekicks. Maybe Tom Brown will pay for this cruise just like the other one for Comnick. Conflict of interest anyone? I bet their association is so twisted and interlaced it’s going to take a grand jury to unravel.
